Wisdom of Time Management

One day an expert was speaking to a group of business students about time management. He pulled out a one-gallon, wide-mouthed mason jar and set it on a table in front of him. Then he produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is this jar full?" Everyone in the class said, "Yes." Then he said, "Really?" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. Then he dumped some gravel in and shook the jar causing pieces of gravel to work themselves down into the spaces between the big rocks. Then he asked the group once more, "Is the jar full?" By this time the class was onto him. "Probably not," one of them answered. "Good!" he replied. He reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in and it went into all the spaces left b

Kemcolians at FiLUMS' 11

After effectively participating in two KAPS short film festivals i thought i had garnered enough experience to take it to the next level !! FiLUMS ! (the LUMS FILM FESTIVAL) Well frankly speaking 1 year ago i didnt knew much about this FiLUMS mumbo jumbo (nobody did lol), thats coz it wasnt a big festival back then , partially because of no international enteries n largely because of being masked by the immensely huge KARA FILM FESTIVAL of Karachi . Well to their luck IMDB registered them this year as a proper FILM FESTIVAL and KARA FILM FESTIVAL went down the drain (brilliant luck i suppose), thus it exploded n got HUUGGEEE !! To the surprise of the FiLUMS team they recieved 750 enteries out of which 230 were international submissions , WAIT WHAT !!! 230 FOREIGN FILMS !! yeah i was surprised too ! i also jumped into this bandwagon n submitted our two short films (by theknightsproduction) at the eleventh hour n after a week (of crying n shouting of their official facebook page members)

KEDS at LSE !! - The Lahore School Debate 2011

Image
Lahore School Parliamentary Debates were held from 4th to 6th February Day1 - The reporting time was 6 pm. There was 1 round on this day. KEMU had 2 english teams and 1 Urdu team. Day2- This was when the real action started. 2 rounds were held that day. Urdu team went on a rampage and won both their rounds. English team A was at the 3rd spot after their 1st round ! A match with UCL-A later took them a little down (The judges are always biased against KEMU :P).. KEMU-B Also did good enough considering they had 2 speakers, speaking for the first time ever ! like really first time ever ! With chief adjudicator and LSEAD VP (aka "Godfather of LSE") Team KEMU English A and B  Team KEMU urdu in action

4th Yr: Patho tests - General stuff

Image
okay guys so by now u would have settled down as the "4th years".... congratulations on the awesome result and the fact tht now u are officially in 4th year..... okay so this post is a reminder to the upcoming patho tests ..... our first patho test was after the april break... after getting it delayed ofcourse... originally it was at the end of march.... my advice DNT gt it delayed.... right after april break is a bad idea because u never gt around to opening ur books in april break... our first test had hugeeeeee syllabus... it included heart , blood vessels , git and endocrine..... u might wanna gt a head start now and start at least giving a superficial read to the systems u r being in taught in class right now.... its nt necessary tht u guys too gt the exact same syllabus fr the tests ...... gt the important topics marked by the seniors ... u usuallly gt important topics in test ... the test pattern wud be mcqs first then the subjective... the subjective usually has on

THE CHRONICLES OF VIVA (THE GENTLEMEN) Anatomy substage/stage

So i am finally back with the male staff of the gross anatomy.............. one word to describe them all is ........ DIVERSITY........... u can be as lucky as to be with sir alamgeer or have a hard day with Dr. Azhar..... So here goes: Dr.Jalal the reason i chose him as the first teacher to write about is cuz i have given him a total of 8 vivas the very first one in my 1st year and the very last one in my 2nd year as well............... tou nobody knows his vivas like our group............. he is bound to choose the most unimportant and the tincy wincy thing nobody cares about and the he will not move onto the next question u have answered the first one.......... DO NOT LEAVE ANY NOOK OR CRANNY OF UR SYLLABUS WHEN GIVING HIM THE VIVA........ keep a cool head and be bisti proof!!!!!!!! But the good news is he rarely fails anyone and awards good marks when the student has studied well. Dr.Alamgir he is the teacher every one prays for before the sub stage or stage.... un k

Study Less, Learn More (Part3)

Previous Part 2 23:58...   23:59...   00:00 PEEP PEEP PEEP ! Four Humpty Dumpties sounding a peep on the digital clock on a Sunday midnight herald the arrival of Monday: tame and tedious! Dismal and dreary! This stereotyped image of the start of a week falls heavy on our timid hearts. I wonder where along the long history of evolution of learnt responses did man begin to perceive Monday as mundane, routine as ruthless, lectures as laborious and study as strained? Isn't there a tiny bit of possibility that all these stereotypes are mere speculations and distorted surmises that have been transferred subconsciously during emotional conversations or unsuppressed expressions of tiresomeness over the generations and received tamely without a whiff of skepticism ; without a spark of an impulse to rebel against them? Is there an iota of a feasibility that someday a innovative mind would stand up and claim to everyone’s surprise that Mondays are

The Chronicles of VIVA (the ladies) - Anatomy substage/stage

sub stage.......... sigh................sub stage...........relief..........sub stage......... weekend...........sub stage.............sports week........stage.............. This is what your routine seems like in the first two years of a medical college. So i thought maybe it would be best to pass on our experiences and profound knowledge of the teachers to our juniors. Here is an unbiased( maybe........... :p) review of the teachers we have had to face in the MURDA GHAR !!!!!!!!!!! Dr. ZAHRA she is a real sweet heart . she is gonna smile at your right answers, nod throughout the viva and basically carry you through the viva very lightly and gradually progress from the easier to the difficult questions. i have never really heard her failing any one....( without reason... :D) Dr. SAMINA bbbbooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeddddddddddd ........... that pretty much describes how she feels or makes the student feel during the viva. but on the bright side she is one of thos
